Consulate General in Jeddah Facilitates Indonesian Poultry Halal Certification
Jeddah, MINA – Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is pushing for the realization of halal certification from Saudi Arabian authorities for poultry products from Indonesia.
Indonesian Consul General in Jeddah, Mohammad Hery Saripudin, said that his party would provide a recommendation for the Saudi Religious Council to cooperate and see firsthand the condition of slaughterhouses.
Hery wants the creation of an equal treatment and mutual economic relations for the two countries.
“Chicken, meat or food is a pretty big requirement in Saudi Arabia,” he told Republika on the sidelines of the 2019 Indonesia Halal Economy Investment Forum which was held at Balai Nusantara in the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah on Wednesday evening.
Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, said Hery, was very concerned about national economic interests. Not only about meat and chicken, but he also wants other products from Indonesia to be consumed in Saudi Arabia. For example, items related to Indonesian pilgrims.
Hery said the average Indonesian pilgrims who came to Saudi are around 100,000 people per month. Seeing the very large number of worshipers, Consulate General approached the management of hotels commonly used by Indonesian worshipers.
“We ask them to use products made in Indonesia,” he said.
Starting from small products such as bath shampoo, tissue paper, towels, Consulate General will provide recommendations to pilgrim travel agents to have products made in Indonesia. (T/Sj/P2)
