COMMUNICATION MINISTRY HOLDS DISCUSSION ON EFFECT OF WEAKENING RUPIAH

Jakarta, 25 Dzulqa’dah 1436/9 September 2015 (MINA) – The ministry of communication and informatics has just held a focus group discussion (FGD) on the effect of weakening rupiah.

The event was joined by representatives from indonesia’s telecommunication industry such as bakrie Telkom, Indosat, XL, Ceria, among others.

” This event surfaced after communications with some journalists and telecommunication operators who suffered the effect of the weakening rupiah,” Said the minister of communication and informatics, Rudiantara when opening an FGD themed “In search for alternative solutions on the effect of rupiah depression to telecommunication industry” in the ministry building, Jakarta, Monday (7/9) afternoon.

Rudi explaines that this matter is not solely the responsibility of the ministry, but every element must also address the problem together.

Rudi also conveyed his appreciation to every element participating in handling the matter.

“We have now entered the data era. The socialization must also be conducted to the market,” added rudiantara.

The minister also hoped that in communication industry must formulate  eficient and balanced policy with the market.

He also said that his party will continuously develop supporting infrastructure and facility.

” we cannot allow to have public perception saying telecommunication products become more expensive due to the rupiah weakening,” rudi elaborated.

He believes that Indonesia is not the only the country which facing the crisis, neighbouring countries also in the same situation. (L/P010/R03)
