Chairman of the HWPL Peace Agency from Korea Visits Indonesia

Jakarta, MINA – Chairman of the international peace agency “Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL)” Man Hee Lee held a four-day peace visit in Indonesia from Saturday-Tuesday (27-30/1).

This is the first visit of Man Hee Lee (88 years old, veteran of the Korean War), to Indonesia. This is his 26th world peace tour visiting 74 countries since 2014.

Man Hee Lee arrived in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon and was greeted loudly by peace volunteers.

On Saturday’s agenda, he is a keynote speaker at the Youth Peace Network Conference and HWPL Peace Conference with Association of Indonesian Advocates or Lawyers (HAPI).

On the occasion, Lee who was accompanied by International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) Program Director Taeho Kang and IWPG President Director Hyunsook Yoon gave a speech to encourage and support youth who are active in peace-building. He expressed great interest in Indonesia which has a diversity of cultures and religions.

“Not many countries that have diversity like the Indonesian nation. Therefore, it is fitting for the young generation as the next generation, to maintain and create religious harmony and be a pioneer in realizing world peace in the future, “Lee said during a speech at the Youth Peace Network Conference in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon.

HWPL Indonesia Ambassador Ahmad Syamsuddin explained that during a four-day peace visit in Jakarta, Man-Hee Lee with the HWPL Central delegation will meet with religious leaders, youth and women.

“HWPL Chairman Man-Hee Lee’s visit to Jakarta aims to take the peace energies from Indonesia. Lee expects Indonesia to have an important role in world peace activities,” said Syamuddin, also one of the board of Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars (ISNU) to MINA.

Ahmad said Lee also participated in a leisure walk for Peace and Harmony with national figures to be attended by around 1,000 people on Sunday morning (28/1).

In addition, Ahmad said, HWPL headquartered in Seoul, South Korea will sign an agreement with Indonesian universities in launching peace education initiated by HWPL.

“The event will be held at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on Monday (29/1).. Currently, about 100 universities are in the process of signing the MoU with HWPL,” he said.

Lee will also attend the conference of religious leaders at the Parliament Building and give a speech calling on religious leaders to lead in peace activities.
