Save Gaza Campaign Launched to Highlight Suffering of Gazans

Gazans deserved a better life than the one they live now.

 
Gaza, 05 Rajab 1438/02 April 2017 (MINA) – Palestinian human right activists, journalists and writers launched Saturday a public campaign to lift the siege of Gaza Strip, which has been imposed by Israeli occupation for 10 years.

The campaign, dubbed “Save Gaza,” also aimed at calling for accelerating reconstruction of Gaza following the 50-day Israeli aggression in the summer of 2014.

The campaign aims at shedding light on ordeal of Gaza Strip which has been suffering from Israeli occupation, Yusri Al-Ghool, the campaign spokesman, told KUNA.

He said the Gazans deserved a better life than the one they live now.

Rafeeq Al-Masri, the founder of the campaign, said the campaign has no political affiliation and was an initiative by public figures to highlight the suffering of Gazans which was caused by the Israeli blockade.

He told KUNA the three-month campaign would highlight reconstruction, lifting of the siege, unemployment, helping the patients and closure of crossings.

Salah Abdulaati, head of Masarat Human Rights Center, said he supported any effort that shed light on violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces which have affected social and economic life of the enclave.

Mohammad Adas, a Gazan shop owner whose business was destroyed by the Israeli aggression, welcomed the calls for compensations for the damage he suffered.

Adas, whose shop employed eight persons, said he lost more than USD 50,000. (T/RS5/RS1)
