Gaza, MINA – The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, says Gaza urgently needs 500 to 600 truckloads of humanitarian aid every day to meet the needs of its people.

Enas Al-Najjar, head of UNRWA’s media office in Gaza, stressed that aid deliveries should be straightforward. “There’s no need for new mechanisms, just send the aid,” she said, as quoted by Quds Press on Sunday. “The current plan does not align with the basic principles of humanitarian work.”

She also pointed out that the new aid approach does not ensure equal distribution across Gaza.

Since March 2, 2025, no humanitarian aid has entered the Gaza Strip. On March 4, Israel’s security cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved a limited shipment of aid, this time through a new management called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The organization operates with support from both the US and Israel.

The foundation is still trying to attract support from established aid groups and major donors. However, the United Nations and other aid agencies have expressed concern, saying the model lacks transparency, violates humanitarian principles, and may fail to reach everyone in need.

Aid operations under this foundation are expected to begin Monday, starting with four distribution centers that can each serve around 300,000 people. The long-term goal is to expand assistance to cover the entire population of Gaza, around two million people.

Still, many details remain unclear, including how the aid will be distributed and how the program will be funded. Humanitarian experts warn that, without improvements, the plan may not prevent famine in Gaza, where food shortages have reached emergency levels.

Some aid groups have rejected the foundation’s model, calling it politically motivated and lacking neutrality. They argue it risks favoring one side in the conflict, instead of focusing on urgent human needs.[]
