Cairo, MINA – Egypt presented a comprehensive plan for rebuilding Gaza during the Arab League Emergency Summit in Cairo on Tuesday. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi outlined a five-year reconstruction project worth $53 billion aimed at restoring Gaza without displacing Palestinian residents.

The plan consists of three phases: First Phase (2 years, $20 billion): Construction of 200,000 housing units, second Phase (2.5 years): construction of 200,000 housing units and an airport in Gaza, third Phase (5 years total): full-scale reconstruction of Gaza to ensure long-term stability and infrastructure development.

In addition to reconstruction, Egypt proposed establishing a Temporary Governance Assistance Mission to replace Hamas’ administration and called for Palestinian security forces to receive training from Egypt and Jordan. The plan also demands that Israel halt settlement expansions, land annexations, and home demolitions in Palestinian territories.

Arab leaders, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a crucial step to protect Palestinian sovereignty. However, significant obstacles remain, including the challenge of securing international funding and potential opposition from Israel and the United States.[]
