Fire Attack on Roof of Al-Marwani, Al-Aqsa Mosque
Al-Quds, MINA – Fire wae occurred on Monday night on the roof of Al-Marwani Mosque, the eastern part of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Quds Press quoted from unnamed Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, said that a fire broke out in guard room outside of the surface al-Marwani’s roof.”
He added that Islamic Waqf Fire Brigade managed to control the fire immediately. However, there is no further explanation about cause of the fire.
Al-Marwani Mosque intersects with the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as City of Jerusalem. This part known as Eastern Settlement, which was built by Umayyads.
Al-Marwani Mosque consists of 16 galleries, with an area of more than four dunums (around 4,000 m2), the largest closed area for prayer in Al Aqsa Mosque complex. (T/Sj/P2)
