Hong Kong, 16 Rabiul Akhir 1437/26 January 2016 (MINA) – An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted 166 km North-North East of Tobelo, Indonesia, at 09:17:50 GMT (16:17:50 pm West Indonesia Time) on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 52.24 km, was initially determined to be at 3.1858 degrees north latitude and 128.3683 degrees east longitude, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) reported, quoting Xinhua.
There was no report of casualties or damages caused by the earthquake.
Indonesia sits on the so-called Pacific “ring of fire”, a volcanologically active terrestrial chain where earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions can happen any time.
