YOUTH MUST GET MATURITY BEFORE MARRIAGE

Jakarta, 21 muharram 1437/3 November 2015 (MINA) – The specialist parenting author Mohammad Fauzil Adhim said a man or woman must get their maturity first if they want to get married.

“Maturity is important for everyone if they want to get married,” said Fauzil in a parenting seminar entitled “Preparing Youth in Reaching Maturity Before Marriage”, Jakarta, Monday.

The psychologist also said the maturity is not determined by the age, but it can be seen by their attitute and ability to overcome the problems.

“Maturity is not only affected by age, but its about the ability to overcome the problems. It’s also related to their emotional quotient, ” he argued.

Fauzil Adhim criticized the government’s policy on the minimum age of marriage. The government has changed the the minimum age limit for the citizens if they want to get married.

“The government changed the minimum age limit of a man or woman who wants to marry from 16 years old to 20 years old.

“Age does not guarantee the maturity. The government’s policy stems from the assumption that the older person, the more mature in their thoughts. It’s less precise, “he said.
