Washington, 26 Dzulhijjah 1436/10 October, 2015 (MINA) – The US welcomed the October 8 presentation of the final text of the Libyan political framework, which includes the names of the senior leaders for the new Libyan government of National Accord, State Department Spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Friday.

“This final text comes after months of tireless negotiations by courageous Libyans, and it is an important step in restoring peace and stability to Libyan through the establishment of a government that will unify the country,” Kirby said.

“The time to move forward and finalize the approval of the political framework is now.”

The UN had proposed the national unity government on Thursday to end the conflict between the competing administrations, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency quoted Kuwait News Agency KUNA as reporting.

The names of candidates for the national unity government have been decided, said Bernardino Leon, UN envoy for Libya.

Leon said on Thursday that the prime minister for the new government would be Fayez Sarraj, a member of the Tripoli-based administration.

“We believe this list can work,” Leon said of the names, which include three deputies for the prime minister – representing the country’s east, west and south – and two ministers to complete a presidential council.
