TURKEY TO SEND EMERGENCY AID TO GAZA

Ankara, 15 Ramadan 1435/13 July 2014 (MINA) –Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has instructed his government to send emergency aid to Gaza, Pls48 news website reported.

Sources in the Prime Minister’s office said the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, Tika, is to begin sending food and treatment to Gaza upon Erdogan’s instructions, Middle Eas Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), as reporting,Saturday.

They explained that the aid package, which includes emergency food and drugs, will be sent to the families of victims and those affected by the Israeli aggression.

Turkish media quoted Erdogan warning Israel that it must stop the current injustice against Gaza; otherwise, relations between the two countries would not return to “normalcy”.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Arab Doctors Union Mohammed Abbas announced that the Union’s Relief Committee dispatched on Thursday a convoy to the Gaza Strip, including medical supplies and pharmaceutical products to relieve the people of the Gaza Strip.

He said in a statement that the convoy consists of five truckloads of medical supplies and will be transferred to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing.

Abbas also said that the EU is considering sending the wounded victims to hospitals in Cairo for treatment.

The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli shelling for the fourth day in a row, leading to the death of more than 90 Palestinians and hundreds of injuries. (T/P012/E01)
