Trump Threatens to Put Tax on All Chinese Import to US

Washington, D.C, MINA – The President of the United States (US) Donald Trump threatened to impose a $267 billion import tax on Chinese goods which would cover almost all Chinese imported products to the United States.

Previously, the potential tariff had already been applied by the US on Chinese imported goods at $50 billion and a $200 billion tariff for valuable products, “it could happen immediately,” Trump said.

He told reporters during a visit to Fargo, North Dakota, on Friday (7/9) that “behind that, there are still $267 billion that is ready to be implemented in a short time if I want to,” VOA reported as quoted by MINA on Saturday.

“That changes the equation,” he added. The move will create new tariffs for almost all US imported goods from China.

Trump’s statement came a day after the end of a period of public comment on a proposal to increase tariffs on imports of Chinese products $200 billion worth. White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said on Friday that Trump would evaluate the public comments before making a decision on the new tariff.

The US trade representative office received nearly 6,000 public hearing comments for seven days about the proposal.

Trump argues that tariffs on Chinese imported goods will force him to trade on terms that are more favorable to the United States. He has demanded that China better protect American intellectual property, including ending the practice of cybertheft. Trump also called on China to allow US companies to gain greater access to the Chinese market and to cut the US trade surplus.

China does not remain silent, they reply by applying the same tariffs on US imports. China also threatened to retaliate against any new tariffs imposed by the US. However, China’s imports from the United States valued at $200 billion per year are still less in number than US imports from China, so it will run out of space to balance the US sanctions.
