Thousands Participate in Funeral of Palestinian Killed by Israeli Settler

Palestinians take part in a funeral held for a farmer on December 2, 2017 who was shot by settlers in the village of Qusra in Nablus -Ma’an photo.

Nablus, MINA – Thousands of people participated on Saturday in the funeral of Mohammad Odeh, 46, in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus, w ho was shot dead by an Israeli settler on Thursday in front of his family while attending to his land, WAFA reported.

Palestinians said the settlers wanted to push Odeh out of his land and when he refused to leave, he was shot dead in cold blood and from a short distance.

As Odeh was being taken to hospital by locals, soldiers stopped them at a Hawwara checkpoint, south of Nablus, and took the body to Abu Kabir forensic center in Jaffa for an autopsy.

The body was returned to his family 24 hours later and kept at Rafidya hospital in Nablus until the burial.

People gathered at the hospital as Odeh’s body was taken to his hometown where he was buried in the presence of thousands of people.

After the shooting incident, residents clashed with the settlers and the soldiers who came to help the settlers and evacuate them from the scene.

Clashes between the armed settlers and soldiers on one hand and the defenseless villagers on the other continued into the second day after the shooting when settlers returned to the village to terrorize its population. Reports said around 60 Palestinians were injured in the army and settlers’ attacks. (T/RS5/RS1)
