The United States Assists Indonesia for Earthquake and Tsunami in Central Sulawesi
Washington, MINA – The United States President Donald Trump expressed his condolences to the Indonesian government and sent assistance to the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.
“I convey my deepest condolences to Indonesia. They (Indonesia) were hit by a devastating tsunami. Luckily, people in this hemisphere often don’t see this, “Trump said during a press conference at Rose Garden, Washington DC, as quoted from US News, Tuesday (10/2).
Trump also said the tsunami disaster was a worse disaster than tornadoes, storms, even all other forms of natural disasters.
“This disaster is really the worst,” explained Trump
The tsunami and 7.4-magnitude earthquake have killed 1,234 people in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi and it is likely to increase further because there are still many victims who cannot be evacuated from the ruins of the building.
Furthermore, in Trump’s statement, the American government has sent a SAR team, military and several other parties to help and remind, the situation at the disaster site there is not conducive.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian government itself said it was ready to receive international assistance to make relief efforts of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala.
The Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Wiranto said there are at least 18 countries which stated they were ready to provide assistance.
Indonesia hopes that assistance can be prioritized on the four types of things that are most needed and difficult for the government to fulfill in a short time such as air transportation, clean water supply, medical personnel and fumigation. (T/Sj/RS5)
