Tarmiyah, 26 Jumadil Awwal 1436/18 Maret 2015 (MINA)- At least nine people have reportedly been killed and nearly two dozen others wounded in separate bomb attacks in and outside the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

According to Iraqi police sources, at least four Iraqi soldiers were killed and fourteen others suffered injuries in three bomb attacks on an Iraqi military headquarters in the town of Tarmiyah, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad, on Tuesday.

A similar terror attack also claimed the lives of at least two policemen and wounded five others in the town of Youssifiyah, situated some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Baghdad, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Elsewhere, in Baghdad’s northern neighborhood of Sha’ab, at least three civilians lost their lives and eleven others sustained injuries after a bomb went off in an outdoor market.

No group has claimed responsibility for the bombings, but such incidents are often attributed to the ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

On March 13, four people lost their lives and seven others were injured when a bomb went off near an outdoor market in the town of al-Mada’in, located about 20 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Baghdad.

On the same day, another bomb detonated near an ice cream shop in Baghdad’s western district of Ghazaliyah, killing three people and wounding nine.

According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), a total of 1,103 Iraqis lost their lives last month, while 2,280 others were injured as a result of terrorist attacks across the country.

The UN mission said 611 civilians were among the fatalities. The number of civilians injured also stood at 1,353. Violence also claimed the lives of a further 492 members of the Iraqi army, while 927 others sustained injuries.

A great portion of the casualties was recorded in Baghdad Province, where more than 320 civilians were killed and over 870 others hurt.

ISIL started its campaign of terror in Iraq in early June 2014. The heavily-armed militants took control of the northern city of Mosul before sweeping through parts of the country’s Sunni Arab heartland.

Iraqi army soldiers, police units, Kurdish forces, Shia volunteers and Sunni tribesmen have been engaged in joint offensives against the terrorists. (T/P010/P3)
