Saudi National Campaign to Aid Syrian Refugees Kicks Off

Riyadh, 28 Rabiul Awwal 1438/28 December 2016 (MINA) – Saudi Arabia’s campaign to aid the Syrian people, ordered by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, kicked off in all Saudi areas and cities, official media reported Tuesday.

The campaign, estimated at over USD 231 million, includes a number of relief programs and humanitarian projects provided by the Saudi government to the Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, in addition to the internally displaced persons inside Syria, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

A special bank account has been setup to deposit donations, the state agency noted, adding that the account will facilitate for citizens and residents from all around the Kingdom the process of sending their donations.

The King, also, ordered to dedicated SR 100 million for the campaign, meanwhile King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works will coordinate with pertinent authorities to provide aid items, such as foodstuffs, drugs and shelters to receive the injured for treatment, furnished camps and prompt delivery of whole package wintertime aid.

King Salman has initiated the campaign by donating SR 20 million for the campaign, while, the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, for his part, donated SR 10 million, followed by the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who donated SR 8 million, for the same cause (T/RS05/RS01)
