Riyadh, MINA – Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir met here Monday with UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed humanitarian relief efforts in Yemen, as well as issues of mutual interest, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

It is noteworthy that the United Nations and its partners launched on January 21 the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan 2018, which calls for more than $2.9 billion to provide life-saving and protection assistance to over 13 million people across the country.

The UN encouraged all donors to contribute to the response plan. It welcomed the pledge by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to provide nearly $1 billion to support humanitarian action in Yemen, as well as their commitment to raise an additional $500 million from regional donors.
