Report: 12.700.000 Palestinians Scattered Across Globe At End 2016

Ramallah, 30 Rabi’ul Awwal 1438/30 December 2016 (MINA) – The estimated number of Palestinians around the world at the end of 2016 is 12 million and 700,000, according a Palestinian report.

A report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PBCS) pointed out that the number of Palestinians has gone up to 4 million and 88,000 in the West Bank and 1 million and 53,000 in 1948 Occupied Palestine, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

Nearly 5 million and 59,000 Palestinians are scattered across Arab states.696,000 others are seeking refuge overseas at a percentage of up to 41,9% of those living in occupied Palestine.

About 1 million and 91,000 Palestinians are, meanwhile, living in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The report documented a decline in the total fertility rate to 4.1 in the period from 2011 to 2013, down from 5.9 in 1999.The current birthrate is estimated at 30.9 newborns per 1,000 people while mortality rate has hit 3.5 per 1,000 persons.

The number of Israelis at the end of 2015 has reached 6.33 million.The number is expected to leap by 0.12 million by the end of 2016.(T/R04/RS05)
