Replica of World’s Oldest Al-Quran Manuscript to Present at Indonesian Museum

Jakarta, MINA – Lajnah Pentashihan Al-Qur’an Mushaf (LPMQ) Indonesian Ministry of Religious affairs will open the Uzbekistan Corner by presenting the world’s oldest mushaf (manuscript) Al-Quran replica at the Istiqlal Museum Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta.

“Uzbekistan Corner will present a replica of the world’s oldest manuscript read by Sayyina Usman when he was killed and there was a sprinkling of blood,” said Muchlis M Hanafi, LPMQ Head after the inauguration on Thursday.

According to Hanafi, the event also will be presented photo exhibition at the Bayt Al-Quran & the Istiqlal Museum in the TMII Jakarta complex was a follow-up to the visit of Uzbek officials to the Ministry of Religion.

The photo exhibition took place from 7 to 17 February 2019 in order to commemorate the one-year visa-free of Indonesian Citizens to Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile the representative of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan for Indonesia, Mahmud said the relationship between Uzbekistan and Indonesia had been established for a long time.

In 1956, when Indonesian first President Ir. Soekarno visited Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) the first question was where the Imam Al Bukhari Tomb was.

At that time, none of the Russian officials knew of the existence of Imam Al Bukhari’s tomb. However, after fulfilling Soekarno’s wishes, the tomb of Imam Al Bukhari was found in Uzbekistan, precisely in the city of Samarkand.
