‘RAMADAN IN KOREA’ WAITING FOR IFTAR IN ASIA-AFRICA MUSEUM
Bandung, 24 Ramadan 1436/11 July 2015 (MINA) – The Indonesia Asia-Africa Conference Museum in Bandung, West Java province held public education events in the month of Ramadan, themed “Ramadan in Korea”.
This event was in cooperation between the Museum management and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia and fully supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday evening, at Gedung Merdeka, Jalan Asia Afrika 65 Bandung.
The head of the Museum, Thomas A. Siregar said the theme always changes every year. “Last year, the theme was about ASEAN. This year (2015) we chose the theme of Korea. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea is our partner in this event, ” he said.
Thomas explained, the visitor can get interesting information about Korea. For example, watching ‘Hanyeo (1960)’ film, Korea tourism presentation, and iftar with Korea menu. In addition, many door prize are available for the lucky participants. Infopublik quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Hanyeo (108 minutes length) was chosen as a special film because it was released in 1960 telling about the life of an household of Korea. The film is considered as a classic and become the world’s film archives.
The event was expected to increase knowledge about Korea, especially Ramadan moment in Korea through the exposure of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Korea Tourism Organization. Each participant receives two guide books, the Restaurant Guide for Muslim Visitors and Muslim Friendly Restaurant in Korea.
Educational events in the month of Ramadan have been held since 2010 at the Museum. The movie show was initiated by Layar Kita film community. The community also held several times discussion on Ramadan in previous years, themed about Egypt, India, China, Africa, and ASEAN.(T/P008/R03)
