Promoting Taiwan Tourism, TVA Opens Its First Office in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – The longest tourism promotion agency of Taiwan, Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA) officially established its first foreign office in Jakarta on Thursday (17/1).

General Secretary of TVA Chao-Yen Wu said the establishment of the official TVA office in the capital of the Republic of Indonesia aimed to increas Indonesian tourist visiting to Taiwan or known as Formosa Country (a beautiful island).

Wu hopes that the inauguration of TVA office in Jakarta can strengthen bilateral relations between Taiwan-Indonesia and the exchange and development of tourism between the two countries.

“Hopefully, TVA office in  Jakarta can make Indonesian tourists feel more familiar and interest when visiting there,” Wu said when inaugurating the TVA office in Jakarta.

TVA was founded in 1956, the oldest association in Taiwan that houses all for Taiwan’s tourism industries such as tourism associations, foundations, aviation and shipping industries, hotels, recreational areas, the communications and advertising industry and other related industries.

As the largest tourism integration platform in Taiwan, TVA serves as an international tourism exchange platform, improving the quality of Taiwan’s tourism and the number of foreign tourists.

According to Wu, Indonesia is Taiwan’s most important partner in ASEAN countries and it is also one of the most promising countries in Asian tourism.

He explained, the number of Indonesian visitors to Taiwan from January to November 2018 reached 195,500 visitors. This number increased 11.5 percent of the same period in 2017.

“Taiwan still has a large place for growth in the Indonesian market, given the number of outbound from Indonesia which reaches 10 million visitors per year,” he added.

In previous years, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau commissioned the association as the leading platform for the Taiwan tourism industry to participate in exhibition events in Indonesia to promote Taiwan tourism.

Based on one of the famous travel pages of Globe Spots, Taiwan becomes one of 10 countries that must be visited in 2019.

Over the past four years, the total of 10 million foreign tourists have come to Taiwan every year, so it is highly recommended for Indonesians to visit.

In 2018, Taiwan ranked fifth as the favorite Muslim-friendly tourist destination in non-Islamic countries or not a member of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC).

Taiwan is also one of the countries that aggressively promoting Muslim-friendly tourism. At present there are more than 850 halal certificates in various manufacturers, restaurants and hotels in the country.

The Chief Representative of Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta, John C. Cheng stated, with the establishment of the TVA office in Jakarta shows the importance of Indonesia to Taiwan.

“The association works with travel agents and the media to promote Taiwan and increase the interaction between Indonesia and Taiwan, so that it can strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries,” he said during a speech at the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Investment Cooperation Division of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) represented the Indonesian government, Wisnu Wijaya Soedibjo, in his speech hoped that with the opening of the TVA office would increase Taiwan’s investment in Indonesia to realize economic progress for both parties.

The inauguration of TVA office in Jakarta is also attended by the leaders of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Kuala Lumpur, representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association, China Airlines, Eva Airlines, and airline representatives and Indonesian travel agents.
