President Jokowi Arrives in New Delhi for Two-Day Visit

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – President Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, accompanied by First Lady Iriana arrived late last night in New Delhi, India, as part of his working visit to two countries.

President Jokowi and entourage arrived at Palam Airport, New Delhi,  after flying from the Air Force Base Halim Perdanakusuma, here, on Sunday afternoon.

According to Antara News, the Head of State landed at around 23.30 local time.

On arrival at the Indian international airport, President Jokowi was greeted by Indonesian Ambassador to India, Rizali Indrakesuma and defense attaché Ardiansyah Muqsit.

President Jokowi will stay in the Asian subcontinent country for two days from 12 to 13 December 2016 and then proceed to the Islamic Republic of Iran on December 14, 2016.

The president is slated to hold a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

Jokowi’s trip to both countries is a reciprocal visit. Previously, Prime Minister of India had visited Indonesia in October 2013, and the President of Iran visited Indonesia in April 2015.

The state visit is considered important in view of India and Iran are the two countries that have huge potential for cooperation in various sectors. (T/R07/R01)
