OIC Delegation Visits Astana to Prepare for OIC Summit on Science and Technology

Jeddah, 27 Dzulqa’dah 1437/30 August 2016 (MINA)  –  A three member delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), headed by Assistant Secretary General, Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan, visited Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan from 24-27 August 2016 to hold further discussions preparatory to the OIC Summit on Science & Technology to be held in Kazakhstan in 2017.

According to SPA, the visit is a follow-up to the discussions held between the OIC Secretary General Iyad bin Ameen Madani and the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Erlan A. Idrissov.

During the visit, the OIC delegation met with the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, who underlined the importance that the President of Kazakhstan attached to the successful convening of the OIC Summit on Science and Technology.

For his part, OIC Assistant Secretary General (S&T) thanked the Government of Kazakhstan for the offer to host the OIC Summit on S&T. He said that the forthcoming OIC Summit on Science and Technology will be the first ever heads of state and government meeting.

During the visit, the delegation also had meetings with AkylbekKamaldinov, Deputy Foreign Minister, Amrin Aslanbek, Advisor to the President, Ministry of Education, and ToktabayevTimur Serikovich, Vice Minister of Investments and Development.

The delegation also visited the venue of Expo-2017 and the OIC Summit on S&T. (T/R07/R01)
