MUSLIM SCHOLARS CONDEMN EGYPT’S BLACKLISTING OF HAMAS
Gaza, 11 Jumadil Awwal 1436/2 March 2015 (MINA) – The head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Grand Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, condemned on Sunday the decision of the Egyptian court to classify Hamas as a terrorist organisation, the Palestinian newspaper Al-Resalah reported.
“Previously, Al-Qassam Brigades was blacklisted and today Hamas was blacklisted,” Al-Qaradawi said.
Prominent Saudi scholar and member of the Union, Salman al-Awdah, responded to the verdict by commending Hamas, describing the movement as the “symbol of resistance” in the Arab world, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Monday (2/3).
“Hamas is the symbol of national, guided and successful resistance,” he said. “Hamas will not be harmed by those who fail it. It will be victorious, God willing.”
Former Kuwaiti MP, Mubarak Al-Wa’lan, expressed his surprise over the court’s decision. “If you are shameless, you can do whatever you want,” he said, in reference to the Egyptian regime.
“It is ironic for (Abdul-Fattah) Al-Sisi’s gang, which has killed children, women and scholars to describe Hamas a terrorist organisation,” he said. “What a shameful decision!” he exclaimed.
Omar Issa, an activist from one of the Gulf States, said that, “such decision honours Hamas because the rulings of the coup judiciary are a witness of pride, glory and honour for certain people. This proves that Hamas is a real resistance movement.”
Further, the poet and preacher Ahmed bin-Said praised Hamas, saying: “Allah and the universe, history and all ages witness that he [Al-Sisi] is a liar. Hamas is the symbol of transparency, and he (Al-Sisi) is the opposite and the symbol of terrorism.” (T/P002/P3)
