Moscow-Denpasar Direct Flights Boost Russian Tourists to Visit Indonesia

Moscow, MINA – Russian tourists who visited Indonesia in 2018 rose 6.95 persen from 117,500 in 2017 to 125,700.

This was inseparable from the efforts of various parties, including tour operators, travel agents, media and airlines, in promoting Indonesian tourist destinations to Russian community.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus M. Wahid Supriyadi at the Indonesian Tourism Update at Wisma Duta, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Tuesday.

The meeting was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow with one of the largest tour operators in Russia. Coral Travel was attended by approximately 30 Russian travel agents, journalists, VITO (Visit Indonesia Tourism Office), and the representatives from Qatar Airways.

Wahid said that the opening of Moscow-Denpasar direct flights by Russian airlines, Rossiya Airlines on 28 October 2018 was one of the important factors for increasing Russian tourists to Indonesia.

Direct flights are a convenient alternative travel mode for Russian tourists with a not too long travel time, which is around 12 hours.

Ambassador Wahid added that the reason Indonesia was worthy of foreign tourists, including those from Russia.

Quoting from Big 7 Media, Indonesia, including instagrambale countries ranked 4th in the world, the 6th most beautiful version of the Rough Guide, and the safest country at number 9 for the solo traveler version of Global Peace Index.

Indonesia even placed three of its islands as the most beautiful islands in the world, namely Java in number 1, Bali in number 2, and Lombok in number 3 version of Travel and Leisure.

Meanwhile, representatives of Coral Travel said that in the October 2018-January 2019 period, it managed to sell tour packages to Indonesia twice that of the same period of previous year.

For this year, Coral Travel hopes to increase sales of Indonesia’s tour packages from last year, which numbered more than 1000 tour packages.

Coral Travel also hopes that it can continue working with the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to promote Indonesian destinations in Russia.

Efforts to encourage Russian tourists to Indonesia are carried out with various activities of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, such as sales missions, joint promotion programs, participation in tourism exhibitions, familirization trips, and organizing the Indonesian Festival in Moscow.

Festival Indonesia, which has been held by the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow since 2016, has become a platform for the promotion of trade, tourism and investment, as well as increasing people to people contact between Indonesia and Russia.

In 2018, visitors to the 3rd Indonesia Festival reach 135,000 people and for the 4th festival will be took place on 1-4 August 2019 with the targets 140,000 visitors. (TR/Sj/R04)
