At Least 1.27 Million Foreign Tourists Visit Indonesia in February

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced as 1.270.825 foreign tourists visited Indonesia in February.

This number increased 4.8 percent from the number of foreign tourist visits in January which amounted to 1.212.562 tourists.

Head of BPS, Suhariyanto said the number of foreign tourists in January was slightly different from last month, because there was an improvement in data with provision from online data access from Directorate General of Immigration to BPS.

“Data on foreign tourists will have more detailed exploration so that tourism data will be better,” he explained at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Suhariyanto hopes that the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia will increase every month because Indonesia has many tourist spots that are worth.

“One day tourism can be a source of economic growth through the cooperation of various parties,” continued Suhariyanto.

He added that from the total number of foreign tourists in February, 58 percent came through the air entrance.

Suhariyanto added that foreign tourists entering through the airport of I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Bali experienced a decrease of 3.44 percent with a total of 436 thousand tourists from the previous month.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists entering through Soekarno-Hatta airport increased by 11.74 percent with a total of 196 thousand people from the previous month.

Suhariyanto then conveyed 28 percent of foreign tourists entering the sea route with 355 thousand people and 14 percent or 184.4 thousand people entering the land route. (T/Sj/R04)
