Gaza, MINA – The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) has constructed WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities, consisting of one borehole well and five toilet units in the densely populated Al-Nuseirat Camp in Southern Gaza.
In a statement shared by MER-C on Tuesday, October 14, the MER-C Renovation Team in Gaza conducted direct supervision of the well-drilling work at the designated location, ensuring that the entire process followed safety and security procedures.
“After conducting a comprehensive technical assessment to determine the water needs for the camp’s residents, estimated at 365 families, and surveying potential suppliers while considering the necessary technical and engineering specifications, a two-horsepower water pump has been installed for the well,” stated one member of the MER-C Renovation Team.
The well was drilled to a depth of 25 meters and is equipped with a solar energy system to ensure long-term operational sustainability. Additionally, a 1,000-meter-long, one-inch-diameter piping network was also installed.
