Amman, 16 Safar 1436/9 December 2014 (MINA) – Jordan and Egypt on Sunday discussed various aspects of cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy prior to signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to that effect in the coming few days, Petra reported.

Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Khaled Touqan briefed an Egyptian delegation led by Ministry of Electricity Undersecretary Hassan Hassanein on key areas of the Jordanian nuclear program, including the extraction and mining of uranium and building a nuclear power station, International Islamic News Agency (IINA) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Touqan also spoke about a research and training nuclear reactor, a project now underway, aimed at building Jordanian human resources and capacities for the peaceful atomic program, applying International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards.
