IOA VIOLATES RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, DENIES MUSLIM WOMEN ACCESS INTO AL-AQSA

Al-Quds (Occupied Jerusalem), 18 Shawwal 1435/14 August 2014 (MINA) – Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) policemen have banned Muslim Jerusalemite women from entering holy al-Aqsa Mosque to perform their prayers.

The Israeli occupation regime police, cordoning off al-Aqsa gates, have come down heavily on a group of peaceful Muslim women who headed to the mosque for al-Fajr (Dawn) prayers, eyewitnesses told a PIC correspondent.

The occupation regime policemen have also prevented Palestinian youngsters aged below 30 from getting into the mosque and confiscated the IDs of Palestinian elderly citizens, Palestinian Information center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Prominent Muslim and Christian Jerusalemite figures launched calls for mounting vigil at holy al-Aqsa Mosque so as to protect the Islamic site from the vandalism of the Israeli occupation regime and its settler gangs, particularly during Jewish holidays.

The calls were launched following a meeting held by the office of the Supreme Islamic Council in Bab al-Silsila, near holy al-Aqsa Mosque, over Israeli occupation regime defilement targeting the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The participants called for increasing the number of al-Aqsa guards, maintaining permanent vigils inside of the mosque, and encouraging the influx of summer campers and schoolchildren.(T/P02/E01)
