Beijing, MINA – A total of 10 santri (students of Islamic boarding school) from various regions of Indonesia were dispatched to Beijing, China on Monday. They will be on the Chinese capital city for five days to introduce Indonesian Islamic education institutions that are tolerant, moderate, and inclusive.

The activity was organized by the Ministry of Religion in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reaffirm Indonesia’s contribution to the world peace in the “Santri for World Peace, Goes to China”.

The step is also intended to answer the stigma and misperception of the international community regarding Islamic education which often associated with fertile ground for radical groups.

Some of the agenda to be undertaken are dialogue with the Muslim Community in Niujie, meetings with the All China Youth Federation, and visits to e-commerce companies such as Xiao Mi, Alibaba, Huawei and JD.com.

‘Santri for World Peace Goes to China” will strengthen Indonesia’s contribution and active role in world peace, especially when Indonesia is a member of the UN Security Council 2019-2020.

“We must build peace and care,” said the Indonesian Foreign Minister when Indonesia assumed became the President of the UNSC some time ago. (T/Sj/P2)
