Indonesia to Hold 2020 Halal Summit

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi explained the priorities of Indonesia’s foreign policy during the second administration of President Joko Widodo. One of them is strengthening economic diplomacy by holding a major role in the halal industry.

“In 2020, Indonesia will hold Halal Summit 2020,” Retno told reporters at the Pancasila Building Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta on Tuesday, October 29.

it will be done because Indonesia is the largest Muslim majority country in the world. So, she said Indonesia must become the major player in the halal industry.

In this case, Indonesia will increasingly focus on sectors where Indonesia has added value. One of them is by developing ecosystems and policies that support the development of natural resource processing industries.

“Diplomacy will also work to encourage export-oriented superior products and support the financing of strategic infrastructure and industrial projects abroad,” she said.

These steps are important to ensure that leading export-oriented products can continue to be encouraged. At the same time, the expansion of Indonesian companies abroad can also be facilitated.
