Indonesia Invites Australia to Invest in 10 Priorities Tourism Destinations

Gold Coast, Queensland, MINA – Indonesian Government through Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro has invited Australian investors to invest in the tourism sector, especially in 10 priority tourism destinations in Indonesia.

“I believe Indonesia’s tourism has big potential and can attract Australian investors to invest,” explained Minister  Bambang at the Biennial Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) Conference, on the Gold Coast, Australia, on Monday.

Indonesia sets 10 National priority tourism destinations, such as Tanjung Lesung, Tanjung Kelayang, Mandalika, Morotai, Lake Toba, Thousand Islands, Borobudur, Bromo, Tengger, and Semeru, Labuan Bajo, and Wakatobi.

“The first four of the National priority tourism destinations, have the function of Tourism Special Economic Zones (SEZ), while the last six serve as National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN),” Bambang said.

indonesian Government realizes that to build 10 tourism destinations certainly requires infrastructure development to support connectivity as well as demanding a large investment.

Investment trend in the tourism sector in Indonesia has grown steadily over the past five years. The investment realization value of 10 priority tourism destinations reached 46.7 percent of the total investment in the tourism sector in 2012-2017, but most of the realization occurred in Jakarta.

“For that reason, it is important for us to increase investment flows in other priority tourism destinations,” Bambang added.

To encourage the investment climate, the government provides investment policies such as 3-hour investment permit services, integrated licensing services, ease of direct investment in construction, and green line services.
