GERMANY DISPLAYS QUR’AN FROM PROPHET ERA
Berlin, 17 Jumadil Akhir 1436/6 April 2015 (MINA) – Reserved at Berlin State Library for over a century, prints of the Noble Qur’an were found to date back to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) lifetime, making it one of rare items found from early Islam era.
The Qur’an prints were examined in a laboratory in Zurich, one hundred years after it entered Germany, Onislam quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Originally a part of an inheritance to an Egyptian scientist, the prints were thought to have been brought to Germany, either at the end of the 19th century or beginning of 20th century.
The seven page parchment papers Qur’an script prints were written between the years 606 and 652.
According to State Library spokesperson Jeanette Lamblia, the copies were examined as part of a major long term project called the “Corpus Coranicusm” and analyzed in a Zurich laboratory.
The project examined all the copies of the Qur’an across Europe.
The Qur’an is a revelation from God, the creator of the worlds, so He is the original author.
There is only one Qur’an which is in Arabic and many translations of the Qur’an in several languages.
There could be multiple translations by different authors in the same language such as English.
The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel who used to make the Prophet memorize the Qur’an and made him revise it every year in the month of Ramadan, the fasting month.(T/P008/R03)
