EMIRATI FILM “HIJAB” QUALIFIES FOR OSCAR AWARD

California, 13 Muharram 1437/26 October 2015 (MINA) – The UAE documentary film ‘Hijab’, which means ‘veil’ in English language, has qualified for the best documentary film award in the Oscars 88th session.

The film was registered by the Oscar’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the finalists’ list for the documentary film award. The short list consisting of 15 films will be announced in December.

The nomination of the film came when it was screened by Anasy Media in the seventh session of Carmel International Film Festival,  Caliornia, held from October 21- 25, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency quoting WAM as reporting.

Christ Rock is set to host the 88th annual Academy Awards, held in February 2016.

The comedian last hosted the 77th Oscars, in 2005. The 11-year gap between hosting gigs is the longest between a first and second Oscar hosting job in the history of the award show. (T/R07/R01)
