Egypt to Open Rafah Crossing Next Week in Both Directions
Rafah, MINA – The Embassy of Palestinian Authority in Egypt announced on Thursday that the Egyptian authorities will open Rafah border crossing in both directions on Sunday and Monday for the return of the stranded Gazans in the Egyptian side and the travel of humanitarian and other special cases.
The Egyptian authorities closed the crossing last Friday after being opened for four days. Only 4 percent of 30,000 travelers left the Gaza Strip.
It is expected that the crossing is going to be opened next week for the travel of some 500 of Gazan pilgrims of the families of martyrs.
Rafah Crossing Point is the sole crossing point between Egypt and Gaza Strip. It is located on the Gaza–Egypt border, which was recognized by the 1979 Israel–Egypt Peace Treaty. (T/R04/RS5)
