Dubai, 14 Safar 1436/7 Descember 2014 (MINA) – The world’s first ever copy of herbal Qur’an has been revealed in Dubai, three decades after its creation by a Turkish doctor, OnIslam.net quote by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
“We are honored to receive this labor of devotion from the late Hakim Hamdi Taher who devoted his life to creating this unique herbal Holy Qur’an,” Abdul Azeaz Bin Hassan Moulavi Malabari, Islamic religious advisor at Heddem Arts, told Arabian Business on Friday, December 5.
Manufactured by Turkish Unani Doctor Hamdi Taher over a period of 22 years between 1957 and 1979, the hand-made herbal Qur’an was produced from “high potency” herbal mixtures prepared according to Unani medical system.
Manufactured by Turkish Unani Doctor Hamdi Taher over a period of 22 years between 1957 and 1979, the hand-made herbal Qur’an was produced from high potency herbal mixtures prepared according to Unani medical system.
Made of nearly 200 herbs, the unique Qur’an has several therapeutic properties that can benefit the reader through moving his fingers on the letters or in and around the pages, making “the herbal mixture seeps through the pores in the fingers, providing health benefits”.
The 7.5-kilo holy book includes a mixture of herbs that had been directly extracted from seeds, fruits, leaves, stems, barks and roots used in Unani medicine, according to a statement by Heddem Art.
“Patiently handcrafted over the years, every word and design in this Holy Quran is made without using any printing technology, tools or machinery,” Malabari said.
Unani is Arabic for “Ionian,” which means “Greek.” It is a formal medicine that has been practiced for 6,000 years.
Also known as “hikmat,” Unani Tibb Medicine was developed by the Greek physician Hippocrates (40 – 370 BC) from the medicine and traditions of the ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Herbal Cream
According to the statement, a “Herbal cream has been used to engrave the letters, chapter names, chapter headings on the top and sides of the pages, border designs and page numbers”.
The cream was also used to engrave the edges of the sheets including the sheets of Holy Qur’an and everything in this book.
The herbal Qur’an, which consists of 606 pages, has been certified by the ministry of Islamic Affairs in Dubai.
“We contacted 1,714 museums in 80 countries to verify that no one else has crafted such a unique Holy Qur’an or any other book, it is truly one of a kind,” Malabari said.
“We have received offers from several buyers but we are particular the buyer should be someone who appreciates Islamic values.”
In August, a hand-painted torn page of the Muslims’ holy book of the Qur’an was sold for $68,000 in a Sydney auction.
The Qur’an is a revelation from God, the creator of the worlds, so He is the original author.
There is only one Qur’an which is in Arabic, with many of its translations in several languages.
There could be multiple translations by different authors in the same language such as English.
The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel who helped the Prophet memorize the Qur’an, as reported in several authentic Hadith narrations. (T/P006/P3)
