Chinese Community Organisations Name FPI Grand Imam Rizieq “Man of The Year””

Jakarta, 21 Rabiul Awwal 1438/20 December 2016 (MINA) –  Chinese community-based social organizations namely Indonesian Chinese Muslim (MUSTI) under H. Jusuf Hamka and Anti-Corruption Chinese Community (KomTak) under Lieus Sungkharisma have given appreciation to the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Grand Imam Habib Rizieq Shihab for his integrity and leadership during the massive rallies recently in Jakarta.

According to the organisations, the appreciation is given because Rizieq had successfully led millions of people in the rallies called the Action of Defending Islam on 4 November and 2 December 2016 in an orderly manner.

MUSTI and KomTak have agreed to name Riezieq “Man Of The Year” or “Eminent People of Indonesia 2016”.

“With the leadership and wisdom that he has, Habieb Rizieq Shihab managed to cool the flames of anger of Muslims who protested against alleged blasphemy committed by the non-active Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama in a political campaign so that the rally did not end up in a situation of anarchy. There was not even grass trampled and any tree branches broken during the rallies,” said Jusuf Hamka in Al Jazeera Restaurant, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/20/2016).

Not only that, Rizieq on various occasions has also always stressed that he love his Homeland and the protest was not a form of hatred towards Chinese ethnic nor a religion, but purely as a form of struggle to defend his religion.

Both organisations expressed the hope that Rizieq could guide Muslims to develop their potential fully in
spreading mercy and blessing for all mankind.

In addition, he added, Rizieq has been proven to have the ability to raise the potential of Muslims into a force that will now have to be taken into account again

“As an Islamic cleric, Habieb Rizieq is very capable, and as a leader he is highly honored,” said Jusuf Hamka.

Jusuf said the award was purely given as a tribute to anyone whose work bring peace and unity in the country. “There is no political motive behind the coronation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of KOMTAK Lieus Sungkharisma said the award will be presented on December 26, 2016 in Jakarta.

“But his coronation as ‘Man of The Year” will be given at Rizieq’s Islamic boarding school in Bogor on December 28,” said Lieus. (L/R04/R07)
