MPR CHAIRMAN: AN-NUBUWWAH MOSQUE EXPECTED TO BE THE CENTER OF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION

Bandar Lampung, 17 Muharram 1436/10 November 2014 (MINA) – Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, S.E., M.M. said, An-Nubuwwah mosque in Muhajirun Islamic Village, Lampung, is expected to be the center of Islamic civilization.

Zulkifli Hasan gave the speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of An-Nubuwwah mosque at the Al-Fatah islamic Boarding School Complex, Al-Muhajirun Islamic Village, Negararatu, Natar, South Lampung, on Friday.

“May An-Nubuwwah mosque will become the center of Islamic civilization, the development of Islamic preaching, as well as being the frontline in straightening and answering every challenge the dynamics of islamic development ,” Zulkifli said in front of Indonesian Government dignitaries, ambassadors and Muslim Scholars

According to him, various civilizations started from a mosque, such as in times of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH’s struggle in mobilizing potential of fighters from An-Nabawi mosque. In the modern era, spread center of Islamic knowledge was from Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo. Symbol of the struggle Muslims from ancient times until today is Al-Aqsa mosque, in Palestine.

“An-Nubuwwah mosque is expected to be the start of awakening of Muslims”, he said.

“The An-Nubuwwah mosque is also expected spreading values of unity, brotherhood and harmony in society, “said Zulkifli .

The alumnus of Religious Teacher Education (PGA) supported the efforts to make the Masjid An-Nubuwwah as the center of Islamic study, place for international conferences , place for referral center of Islamic library via internet, the learning of online Al-Quran and the study and information center of Al-Aqsa liberation and Palestinian struggle.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Palestine who was represented by the Secretary, Neil Mahmoud; the Ambassador of Paraguay, Ceser Estaban Grillion along with his wife; official of Imtiaz Ulul Albab middle School, Melaka, Malaysia and ulema from Jambi, Palembang, Central Java, surrounding Jakarta, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan.

Largest Mosque Donation

According to the Committee, An-Nubuwwah mosque was the largest mosque in Lampung with capacity 6,000 worshipers. The mosque will be filled activities for 24 hours a day by thousands of Islamic boarding school students as well as local residents.

Facilities in the mosque are online multimedia library, hall for teleconference, radio and television studios Islam and office of the Miraj Islamic News Agency( MINA), clinics, and BMT (Baitul Mal wat Tamwil) office and ZIS (Zakat, Infak, and Sadaqah).

In addition, there is a museum filled with diorama, documentary film which shows struggle of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, such as the Battle of Badr, Khaibar, Fathu Mecca and more.

The mosque with area 3,526 m2 on land area 8,632 m2 was built in Islamic compound, Muhajirun , Negararatu Village, Natar District, South Lampung regency. It is about 12 km from the Raden Intan II airport , or about 225 km to the northwest of Jakarta.

The construction cost of the An-Nubuwwah mosque is planned reaching about 13 billion rupiah ( $1.07 million). The construction is targeted for completion within the next two years. Donations come from the Muslims who are inspired to participate and uplift of Islam.

According to the commitee, donation can be sent directly to the construction site or via BRI Bank Account with number 06600-1000-271-302, Mandiri Bank account with number 11400-1075397-1 and BNI Bank with Number: 03558-74883, on behalf of An-Nubuwwah mosque committee . (L/P009/P3)
