BUMDS TO HOLD EXPO IN SURABAYA
Jakarta, 10 Dzulqa’dah 1435/5 September 2014 (MINA) – The national cooperation board for province-owned enterprises (BUMDs) will hold an exhibition in Surabaya, East Java in December this year to promote its business activities to both local and foreign investors.
The board’s chairman Arif Afandi said in Jakarta on Thursday that the event, called the BUMD Expo 2014, would be used as an instrument to show the business opportunities that BUMDs can offer to investors.
The expo will be held between Dec. 17 and Dec. 19 at the JX International convention venue in Surabaya, The Jakarta Post quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
“We hope that investors will use this forum as a map for finding potential partners in the regions,” Arif told The Jakarta Post after a business forum event on Thursday.
Arif said that due to their familiarity with the characteristics of regions, in addition to having direct access to regional administrations especially in relation to obtaining permits, BUMDs are good potential business partners for larger companies.
Arif acknowledged that such regional enterprises were in dire need of capacity-building and awareness-raising initiatives to help them prepare better for the impending single market system.(T/P009/P3)
