As 100,000 Palestinian Students Threatened with Dropout

Cairo, MINA – Palestinian Deputy Minister of Education, Bashri Shalih, warned that around 100,000 Palestinian students in the city of Al-Quds were threatened with dropping out of school due to Israeli decisions requiring schools to replace Palestinian curriculum using Israeli curriculum.

It was conveyed by Salih in his meeting with a number of representatives of the United Nations Agency for the Relief and Work of Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in the field of education held at the Arab League office, Cairo, Egypt, as quoted from Palestinian Information Center (Palinfo) on Monday, October 21.

“Right now Palestinian students in Al-Quds are waiting for our serious efforts to achieve victory in determining education policy,” said Salih.

Salih called on a number of Arab countries to provide for their educational needs and deal with Israeli attacks on Al-Quds, especially in the education sector.

On the other hand, Israeli Forces continue to attack Palestinian schools and arrest Palestinian teachers.

Arrests occur almost daily targeting Palestinian teachers, not only in the Area C, Gaza, and Al-Quds areas but in all places where Palestinian schools are located, thus disrupting the teaching process.

Salih asked the Arab League to help the continuation of work of UNRWA, so that it could strengthen the spirit of Palestinian people for their own destiny. (T/Sj/P2)
