This came in a statement after an emergency meeting of foreign ministers from the 22 Arab states here late Sunday.
In a statement, the ministerial council said US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was “a dangerous development that places the US at a bias position in favor of the occupation and the violation of international law and resolutions.”
Trump’s decision, according to the statement, is “illegal” and a “dangerous violation” of international law.
The statement called on the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution condemning Trump’s decision.
The resolution also said the decision “undermines efforts to bring about peace, deepens tension and will spark anger that will threaten to push the region to the edge of the abyss of violence, chaos and bloodshed.”
It demanded the international community to exert efforts to pursue implementing the two-state solution.
The resolution also said the ministers would meet again within a month. (T/RS5/RS1)
