Al-Quds is Capital City of Palestine: OIC
Jeddah, MINA – Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) calls for continuing all forms of support for Al-Quds City ( East Jerusalem) and its citizens who have survived.
In the 50th Anniversary of Burning of Aqsa Mosque, OIC reaffirmed solidarity for Palestinian people to achieve their rights and maintain Al-Quds City as the capital city of Palestinian State.
“OIC also reaffirms the eternal attachment to Muslims around the world at Al-Aqsa Mosque,” OIC Secretary General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen said in an OIC press statement on Wednesday, August 21.
OIC, he stressed that Palestinian State has the right to protect Arab identity of the occupied Al-Quds Ash-Sharif, preserving its human heritage and the sanctity of all sacred sites belonging to Muslims and Christians within it.
Palestinian state also has the right to defend religious rights which cannot be revoked from Muslims there.
On August 21, 1969, Al-Aqsa Mosque which was the first mecca for Muslims, was set on fire by Denis Michael Rohan, an Australian Zionist.
The burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque encouraged the governments of Muslim countries to establish Organization of Islamic Conference (now, Organization of Islamic Cooperation – OIC) with the aim of facing the dangers that threaten the world and sanctity of Islam.
“The heartbreaking burning of Aqsa Mosque is still present in the midst of continuing Israeli violations, which curb the freedom of Muslims from entering Al-Aqsa, and close the gate, on the other hand the convenience afforded to Jewish extremists to storm into Al-Aqsa courtyard,”He said.
OIC Secretary General said Israel intensively carried out excavations under the Al-Aqsa building and its surroundings, in order to make Al-Quds a Jewish city, change geographic and demographic maps, and isolate Palestinians. This is a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions related to the city of Al-Quds.
“OIC confirms its support for the right of the Palestinian state to seize full control of Al-Quds City as the Palestinian capital, and protect Arab identity there,” he stressed.
OIC Secretary General praised the Palestinians who always struggle to carry out their actions in Al-Quds City, reaffirming their continued solidarity. He stated standing with them and supporting their legal rights in it. (T/Sj/P2)
