ABU-MARZOUK DENIES HOLDING SECRET TALKS WITH ISRAEL

Gaza City, 9 Shafar 1435H/2 December 2014M (MINA) – Deputy Head of Hamas’ political bureau Dr Mousa Abu-Marzouk said that his movement has never held secret negotiations with Israel and does not have a hidden agenda.

Abu-Marzouk’s remarks came in response to accusations by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas who claimed that Hamas held secret talks with Israel, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Tuesday.

The Hamas official wrote on Facebook yesterday: “We do not have a hidden agenda like the Palestinian Authority did in the Oslo agreement and the previous secret agreements that led to it and we will not deceive our people with false slogans.”

He pointed out that his movement aim to “serve the interests of the Palestinian people” adding “this is our promise to our people and we will never have agreements with our enemy”.

Abu-Marzouk rejected the Israeli proposals to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict including the borders, the security coordination, the land swaps or direct negotiations describing them as malicious, something Hamas will never approve or deal with.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas accused Hamas of accepting Israeli proposals to end the conflict.

Abu-Marzouk denounced Abbas’ repeated accusations against his movement, especially the ones concerning the national relations and the recent bombings in Gaza which targeted the homes of Fatah leaders.

He pointed out that the security forces stopped investigating the bombings udner Abbas’ instructions, warning that Hamas was the first to condemn the events.

The senior Hamas leader asked why the PA president had stopped talking about the elections, stressing that they constitute a decisive factor in determining the position of the masses in the Gaza Strip. (T/P3/R01)
