Ramallah, MINA – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas clarified his position, Tuesday, on any Israeli government that would be formed after the Knesset elections.

According to MEMO, Abbas expressed his readiness to hold discussions with any Israeli government that “believes in peace based on international resolutions.”

Abbas added in a speech he delivered after the inauguration of the Cancer Treatment Department in the private Istishari Arab Hospital in Ramallah, commenting on the Israeli elections, “We hope that they will follow the just path to reach peace, but we will not hold discussions or follow up any government that does not believe in peace.”

“We are ready, as we have always been, to hold negotiations, but we will not give up our rights, and we will not accept the (US peace plan) Deal of the Century,” he said.

Abbas asserted, “We will be open to them if they (Israel) accept the resolutions of international legitimacy to achieve peace. If they do not want, at least we are staying and resisting here until we get our rights as soon as possible.”(R/R04/P2)
