PRESIDENT CALLS FOR COHESIVENESS ALL STATE AGENCIES
Jakarta, 29 Shawwal 1436/14 August 2015 (MINA) – President Joko Widodo asked all state agencies to come together to advance the nation in his first state address since he came to power.
“Through this forum, is open to me to invite state institutions to build cohesiveness to strengthen the presidential system of government,” said Joko Widodo while delivering the progress reports on the performance of state institutions before a plenary session of the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Friday.
Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, said cohesive functioning among state institutions is indispensable in the struggle to realize the promise of independence as set forth in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution.
“Right now we are at war, but not a physical battle as when ancient, but the war to win peace, won the people’s well-being and happy life,” he said..
He Added that, people’s prosperity can be realized if all elements of the Stste and Unitary of Republic Indonesia, especially state insttitutions, can be cohesive and not get stuck in their egos.
“Together we strengthen political sovereignty, economic independence and our personality,” said Jokowi.
According to him, seeing social capital and economic capital owned, Indonesia has a wide open opportunity to become a more prosperous country.
“The people of Indonesia are large and creative, a moderate Muslim society and become the 16th greatest economic power in the world with GDP valued at US$ 915 billion, he added.
President is also scheduled to deliver his state address to joint session of DPR and DPD.
Then, President Joko Widodo will also read out the introductory speech on the draft bill of the state budget and revenues for next year.
Attended the event, BJ Habibie, The 3rd President of Republic Indonesia,The 5rd President of Republic Indonesia Megawati Soekarno Putri, former Vice President Try Sutrisno (1993-1998), former Vice President Boediono (2009-2014), all members of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and the foreign ambassadors.
