INDONESIA LARGE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION RISES 5.44 PERCENT

Jakarta, 18 Shawwal 1436/18 August 2015 (MINA) –  Indonesia Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the growth of industrial production of large and medium manufacturing (IBS) in 2nd quarterly, 2015 increased by 5.44 percent if compared with the same period in 2014.

” The increase is mainly due to the hike of metal goods industrial production, unless machinery and equipment, up to 16.43 percent,” BPS chief Suryamin said on Monday.

Suryamin added, the rise is also supported by the increasing of pharmaceutical industry, chemical and traditional medicine by 13.13 percent and and the increase of machinery and equipment installation and repair by 9.43 percent.

Meanwhile, the types of industries that tend to decline in production is the apparel industry which fell 12.77 percent, transportation equipment industry with 6.52 percent decrease, and paper products, down to 5.63 percent.

” If compared with the first quarter of 2015, the growth in large and medium industrial production in the second quarter of 2015 has reached 2.34 percent,” said Suryamin.  Antaranews quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) .

The types of industries that experienced the largest increase are the food industry, reaching 9.84 percent, rubber and plastics industry managing to go as high as 8.61 percent, and machinery and equipment industry which jumped to 8.60 percent.

While the types of industries that experienced a decline in production is the apparel industry that fell to 5.62 percent, industrial chemicals and chemical goods that fell as low as 4.28 percent and transportation equipment industry down to 3.04 to percent.

Meanwhile, the growth of large and medium manufacturing industrial production in the second quarter of 2015 compared with the first quarter at the provincial level that experienced the highest growth was North Maluku province with a hike to 12.02 percent, Riau Islands to 11.42 percent, and Riau Province to 11.12 percent.

The provinces which experienced a decline in growth are South Sulawesi which fell to 0.84 percent, Gorontalo province down to 0.80 percent, and Maluku province that went as low as 0.59 percent. (T/R03/NMT)
