ISRAELI OCCUPATION ARREST EX-PRISONER RELEASED IN SHALIT SWAP

       West Bank, 17 Jumadil Awwal 1435/18 March 2014 (MINA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested last night an ex-prisoner who was released in Shalit swap in 2011 under the pretext of holding a knife at Qalandia checkpoint, north of occupied Jerusalem.

       Hebrew Walla website said that Mohammed Rummana,26, was holding a knife and a Palestinian flag claiming that he intended to stab Israel soldiers at the checkpoint.

       Occupation released Rummana after serving three years accusing him of shooting fire at a colonial settlement in the West Bank. Palestine’s Al Ray news media quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

       Rummana was released in Shalit swap that was signed between the occupation and the Palestinian resistance in 2011.

       Israeli court on last Friday refused to release a patient prisoner Mutasem Raddad, sentenced to 20 years, for health reasons. Raddad is suffering from inflammatory bowel cancer and severe bleeding for several years; his health is deteriorating dramatically.

         Raddad refused to undergo a serious surgery of bowel resection. In the light of the court’s decision, he threatened to take protest steps to provoke his cause and expose the policy of medical negligence against him and the other patient prisoners.

         In a relevant vein, Israeli Military Court of Salem extended on Wednesday the detention of female prisoner Mona Qa’dan,42, for the 13th time in a row.

         Prisoner Qa’dan was arrested on November 10,2012 shortly after being  released in Shalit prisoner swap deal.

        A human rights society said the female Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails numbered 22, seven of them are tried and 15 detained without charge or trial.

        Palestinian Prisoners’ Club stated in a report marking the International Women’s Day that the oldest-serving female prisoner is Lena Jerboni, detained since 2002 and sentenced to 17 years.

        While the youngest of the prisoners, 17 of whom are held in Hasharon prison, is Maram Hassouna, with 18 years of age.

        A report published recently by Ahrar Center for Prisoners Studies and Human Rights showed that most of the female prisoners jailed in the Hasharon prison are suffering from various diseases and are in need of treatment.

        Fouad Khuffash, the director of the center, said Lena Jerboni, from Nablus, suffers from the effects of a gall bladder operation she underwent about six months ago, while Dunya Waked, from Tulkarem, has diabetes and suffers from asthma and shortness of breath. (T/P04/P03)
