Jakarta, MINA – The spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela has stated that international recognition is essential for achieving Palestinian independence. Indonesia’s support for this is demonstrated through its actions at the UN General Assembly.
“Indonesia consistently supports all efforts at the UN aimed at expanding global recognition for Palestine,” said Vahd in a written statement on Monday.
Indonesia has reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle, following the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the New York Declaration on a peaceful solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict on September 12, 2025.
Vahd stressed that international recognition is crucial for Palestine to have an equal position in any peace process. Therefore, Indonesia will continue to strengthen coordination with various countries and international organizations to increase support for Palestine’s statehood and to push for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

He added that at the Extraordinary Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held on August 25, 2025, Indonesia, along with other OIC member states, agreed to firmly reject Israel’s plan to annex Gaza and establish a permanent occupation in Palestinian territories.
In addition to diplomatic efforts, Indonesia continues to send humanitarian aid to Gaza residents affected by Israeli aggression.
“That commitment includes the offer to evacuate patients who need emergency medical care, as requested by the WHO Director-General,” Vahd explained.
Indonesia is known as one of the most consistent defenders of Palestine in international forums. This support is not only expressed through diplomatic and political means but also through continuous humanitarian assistance.
