Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia has sent 120 tons of humanitarian aid for the victims of the recent earthquake in Myanmar. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, is leading the mission to deliver this assistance.
Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the delivery of this aid is a manifestation of Indonesia’s solidarity with the people of Myanmar, who were affected by the earthquake that struck on March 28.
“The Indonesian government hopes that this aid, which includes medicine, sanitation equipment, and basic necessities, will help alleviate the suffering of the people of Myanmar,” said Sugiono during a ceremony for the humanitarian aid dispatch at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase on Thursday.
The total value of Indonesia’s aid for the earthquake victims is $1.2 million, consisting of 64 tons from the private sector and 60 tons from the government.

Approximately 20 tons of aid have already arrived in Myanmar. A team of 157 SAR and EMT personnel has been deployed, with 69 people departing with the third batch today.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Indonesia’s humanitarian diplomacy is rooted in a spirit of compassion and solidarity within ASEAN. The aid delivery also prioritizes inclusivity for all those affected in Myanmar.
Earlier, on Monday, April 1, Indonesia had already sent aid, accompanied by the deployment of 61 INASAR personnel.
The government of Myanmar had requested assistance from the international community, including the Indonesian government, to help manage the aftermath of the earthquake on March 28, 2025.
The epicenter of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake was located 13 kilometers northwest of Sagaing city, with aftershocks affecting Myanmar’s two largest cities, Mandalay and the capital Nay Pyi Taw.
Indonesia has previously provided humanitarian aid to Myanmar when it was affected by Cyclone Mocha on June 24, 2023. At that time, 45 tons of aid were delivered, valued at approximately IDR 7.7 billion. The total value of the current aid for the earthquake victims reaches $1 million, or about IDR 16.6 billion. []
