Palestinian Foreign Ministry Holds Israeli Government Responsible for Escalation in Al-Aqsa

Ramallah, MINA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine has directly held the Israeli government responsible for the recent incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem, and the subsequent consequences on the conflict dynamics.

In a press statement released today, the Foreign Ministry affirmed its ongoing coordination and efforts with Jordan on all levels to secure international protection for Jerusalem and its holy sites, with the Al-Aqsa Mosque at the forefront.

It emphasized that the international community, as well as the United Nations and its relevant agencies, have thus far failed to respect and enforce their relevant resolutions, thereby bearing responsibility for their lack of will to implement international law in the occupied Palestinian territories, WAFA reported.

The ministry also expressed profound concern over the systematic and premeditated escalation seen in the incursions by Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa and the ongoing escalation in performing additional Talmudic rituals, prayers, and provocative marches.

“These actions aim to divide the temporal administration of the mosque, creating an atmosphere conducive to a potential takeover or partial demolition in favor of constructing an alleged “Third Temple” in its place,” said the statement.

The statement added, “The ministry views the targeting of Al-Aqsa within the framework of a settler-colonial plan designed to Judaize Jerusalem, alter its historical, political, demographic, and legal reality, especially in light of the extremist right-wing coalition led by Prime Minister Netanyahu.”(T/R3/RE1)
